Sea Shepherd

Adventurer_084_2_copyThe Ocean Adventurer, has joined the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, in it's upcoming anti whaling campaign in Antarctica.

This is a radical assignment for the boat. That the boat can be used effectively for such varied purposes is testament to it's incredible design. The Wavepiercing stabilsed monohull will be utilised to search for the whaling fleet. The Antarctic is a vast area, with many hazards, that the boat and crew will have to overcome

Freezing temperatures, major storms, icebergs - the boat and crew will be tested to their limits. The boat will be a valuable asset in the Sea Shepherd fleet in their protests against the Japanese whaling efforts.

The Round-The-World Challenge

Once the newly outfitted Ocean Adventurer (now renamed Gojira) has completed the tour of duty with the Sea Shepherd 'No Compromise' anti-whaling campaign in the Antarctic; there is another challenge in the wings.

The Gojira will be setting out to break the current round-the-world record set by the bio-fueled powerboat ‘Earthrace’ of 60 days 23hours and 49 minutes.

A monumental challenge to undertake and one that is also very bittersweet. For Earthrace or the Ady Gil as it was renamed by Sea Shepherd, was tragically sunk during the last Sea Shepherd anti-whaling campaign in 2009.

The event itself will attract significant media exposure as the Gojira will make stops in 12 countries to refuel.
